Lets break the ice. Meet the Thompson

DeepSleep Studio was contracted to launch and brand the hotel and its beverage outlets and spa. We’re big believers in bringing what’s inside to the outside. When creating the identity for the Thompson, we were inspired by the patterns and textures that reside in the hotel’s interiors and incorporated them into the collateral.

The team behind the Thompson Miami Beach wanted their brand’s name to serve as a modern day testament to Miami’s golden Art Deco era. To evoke the idea of a mid-century oasis re-imagined, we put together an extensive multi-media presentation and mood board establishing the Thompson’s voice and market positioning, as well as the tone, language, color scheme and imagery that would be included in the design of all collateral items, including: room descriptions, information decks, advertisements, brochures and media kits. We also named and crafted the identity for the legendary Crown Room on the property. From menus to coasters to signage, we curated the tone the Crown Room presents to the public.

We fell in love with the hotel’s nostalgic vision of featuring refreshed yet classic art deco design, and its commitment to showcasing Miami’s local beauty. To maintain that look and feel throughout the creative process, we focused on bright colors, iconic patterns and simple yet elegant design aspects across all of the hotel’s collateral, from magazine spreads and menus to information decks and custom social media content.

Our team directed and produced the photo shoot, designed a clean and classic layout, and came up with copy that was simple yet thoughtful for the Thompson’s spread in Ocean Drive Magazine. For the shoot, we chose and cast models that could best channel the casual glamor and timeless sophistication that the hotel embodies.
